Our newest Challenge Coin has been a long time coming and represents a design that’s near and dear to us. The soldier on the front of the coin represents the close bond between the dog and mankind. He is kneeling to interact with the dog to show that our relationships build and improve our lives, and real warriors are fighting because they love what is behind them, not because they hate what is in from of them.
The German Shepherd’s Dog on the reverse side of the coin, reminds us of the service these dogs have given to warriors for generations. The laurel wreath on around the dog shows that together both the dog and warrior will have victory over past, present and future challenges. Together, there is nothing they can not face and overcome. The tip of the spear represents the Special Operations community that we support, and shows that we are confronting the problems these warriors face before they threaten their lives and families.
A challenge coin is a small coin or medallion (usually military), bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they are given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members.
